Most hold a law degree or have practised in the source jurisdiction, and every one of them works only into the language they grew up in. Legal drafting is read for what it does rather than for what it says, and that is a trained reading. ### What happens to a term with no equivalent in the target system? We render the function, keep the source term where it carries weight, and annotate the choice. Your counsel sees the gap rather than inheriting a false friend buried in a liability clause. ### Can you keep tracked changes and redlines? Yes. Rendering it as «beste Bemühungen» would import an English term of art into a contract read under German law.
